WHERE WE BEGAN...

Hey there. I'm Shaunna. A retired veteran and dog mom. The dog mom part is what lead me here. After adopting two Pitbulls from a rescue here in North Carolina, I quickly learned that I had a lot to learn about dogs. My male dog, Jonesy, had a lot of anxiety and was fearful of everything. Watching him struggle with being afraid of every shadow and any new amazon box that came into the house is what initially sparked my interest into learning about dog behavior and training. I couldn't just stand by and watch my boy struggle. I had to find a way to help him.

And then my little girl, who was a puppy when I adopted her, started showing signs of aggression, getting into fights with dogs she has known and loved her entire life. No warning signs that I could see, and I had no idea why or or how to stop it. I needed help!

I hired a trainer to solve the fighting issues. Paid a lot of money, with not a lot of results. While at the same time jumping into the books, enrolling in online school for animal behavior, finding the best trainers to learn from, watching all the videos, reading all the articles, and books, and eventually enrolling in Highland K9 School for Dog Trainers after retiring from the Air Force. I needed to understand how to help my dogs, but soon it became bigger than just my babies.

I knew my purpose was to help other dog lovers and their dogs. I wanted to ensure that others never had to feel alone when dealing with behavior challenges like I did. The struggles I faced with my own dogs gives me a unique perspective into the challenges you might be facing and exactly how to help.

No matter how bad things may seem right now. A plan, a little bit of patience and a lot of consistency will make a major difference in a short time. And rest assured, you never have to feel alone again.

I cannot recommend Shaunna highly enough. She is knowledgeable and experienced and has a true gift for working with dogs. She does not use a cookie-cutter approach but tailors her training to each individual dog and she understands them. She immediately tuned into our rescue Izzy and knew what she needed after observing her a few times. Before Shaunna came along, our neighborhood walks were stressful and not much fun. Izzy would go crazy when we encountered other dogs and was highly reactive with squirrels and birds. Now, after we spent time with Shaunna, our walks are pleasant, and Izzy and I know what to do when challenges come along. We can’t thank Shaunna enough for all of her help, support and assistance with George! What we appreciated most was Shaunna’s personalized approach…Shaunna took the time to understand Georgie and figure out what makes him act out, and gave us the tools to help him. And Shaunna also took the time to understand our goals…we (along with George) are now enjoying our walks more, enjoying our time outside together and we now have a dog that doesn’t go ballistic when the doorbell rings! Our 5 year old dog Max controlled our home. He was very anxious and started biting in times of extreme anxiousness. We felt like we had lost all control and we were constantly stressed. Shaunna swooped in and quickly helped us transform Max’s behavior (and ours too). We now have complete control over Max and our home now and we just cannot thank our trainers enough!! Max truly is a changed (and obedient) dog! Shaunna helped us every step of the way, modeling for us, setting expectations, and of course, fielding our many many questions.
